Supportive Compassionate Therapy
A space to explore your emotions and experiences at your own pace and work through what feels most meaningful to you.
My Approach
Therapy should feel like a safe and supportive space—one where you can freely explore anything that’s important to you. A place where you can express your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace, and work through what feels meaningful to you.
Together, we’ll uncover what’s going on beneath the surface, creating a space where change feels possible and natural. We’ll explore the deeper layers of your experiences and find new ways to approach life’s challenges.
My therapeutic style is rooted in humanistic, person-centered, and solution-focused approaches. I also incorporate other techniques that align with your individual needs, creating a therapeutic approach that’s unique to you.
ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Eric Berrenson.
I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist and Educator based in Los Angeles, California, where I’ve been working with clients for over 15 years. Alongside my clinical work, I’ve been an educator for 20 years, teaching courses in psychology and psychotherapy.
As a passionate enthusiast of psychological theory, I’ve developed a therapeutic model called Ego Balance, which weaves together scientific knowledge, spiritual and theological wisdom, with psychotherapeutic practices.
I’m often described as:
- Compassionate
- Supportive
- Insightful
- Non-Judgmental

Therapeutic Specialties

Relationship struggles
Relationship struggles often come down to feeling disconnected and misunderstood. Communication can break down, needs might go unmet, or conflicts can linger, leaving both people feeling stuck. Outside pressures like work, money, or family dynamics can add to the strain, while deeper issues like trust or unhealed wounds from the past may make it harder to create boundaries or move forward.

Depression
Depression can stem from a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors. It may be linked to chemical imbalances, genetics, or hormonal changes, as well as past trauma, chronic stress, or negative thought patterns. Since depression often has multiple causes, understanding and addressing it requires a personalized and supportive approach.

Anxiety & stress
Anxiety and stress can feel overwhelming, leaving you on edge or unable to relax. They often come from juggling too many responsibilities, facing big life changes, or dealing with uncertainty about the future. Sometimes they’re tied to deeper fears, or past experiences. Biological factors like genetics and brain chemistry can play a role too. Finding relief means understanding what’s behind the stress and learning tools to help you manage it.

Self discovery & growth
Self-discovery and growth are about understanding who you are and uncovering what truly matters to you. This process often involves reflecting on your values, beliefs, and experiences to identify patterns that may no longer serve you. It can mean confronting fears, doubts, or habits that hold you back, or exploring new possibilities and paths forward. Therapy provides a supportive space to clarify your goals, build confidence, and create a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.

Before starting therapy, I require a credit card on file. I’ll process payment after each session. I accept all major credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, Discover, American Express).
I understand that life happens, and sometimes you may need to reschedule or cancel a session. I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to make any changes to your appointment. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, the full session fee will be charged.
I am an Out-of-Network provider, which means I do not bill directly to insurance companies. Clients are responsible for payment at the time of their service.
Upon request, I can provide you with a super-bill (a detailed invoice) at the end of each month, which you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Since every insurance plan is different, reach out to your insurance provider to learn more about your out-of-network benefits and reimbursement rates. If you’re new to therapy or unsure about how to navigate this process, I’m happy to guide you through the process.
Teletherapy has been around since the 1960s, and has shown to be as effective as in-person therapy. I’ve found teletherapy to be just as safe, supportive, and impactful. To help ensure a smooth and successful telehealth experience, there are a few things to consider before you begin:
- A computer with a webcam, speakers/headset, and microphone, or a tablet or smartphone.
- A reliable internet connection.
- A quiet, distraction-free space where you feel comfortable speaking freely.
